Perfectly Unmatched
A little sock story for anyone who has ever felt left behind.
An illustrated fable for adults — and the older children in their lives. When Lefty loses his pair, he finds his way to The Wholeplace, a town of socks whose lives no longer fit the drawer. A quiet, hopeful book about carrying love forward.
The story, without spoilers
What it’s about
Lefty and Righty were a perfect pair, certain of their place in the warm corner of the drawer. Then Righty went missing — and Lefty had to live inside the question of who he was without him.
Behind the dresser he finds The Wholeplace: a handmade community built by socks who arrived having lost something. There he meets an elder who wears his repairs as stories, a tiny sock with an enormous truth, a striped sock who balances on a spool, a traveller learning a new language, two left socks in love, a tall green sock who asks him to dance, and a blue sock who refuses to become someone else’s answer.
Nobody fixes him. They make room. And slowly Lefty learns that a life can grow wider rather than return to its old shape.

- Anyone choosing a gentle, honest gift for someone who feels left behind.
- Reading groups, counsellors, teachers, and community organisations.
A gentle note
The story touches on loss, divorce, loneliness, disability, migration, and exclusion — clearly but tenderly. It is a story, not therapy, and it is not a substitute for professional or crisis support.

Give the story to someone
Some books are easier to give than the words we can’t find. If someone you love is standing on this floor, the book can sit beside them — no advice, no fixing, just company.
