Bluebell shares Lefty’s shade, his size, and a pale line near the toe. For a moment, Lefty is almost certain his waiting is over.
But Bluebell has known loss too, and she will not be rewritten into someone else’s story. Gently and without cruelty, she declines to become his answer.
Through their meeting, Lefty learns to see her honestly rather than as a copy of what he lost. Resemblance, it turns out, is not the same as identity — and she is not Righty.
