I am Fern. Would you like to dance?

Their story

Fern is tall, patient, and gently funny. He notices the sock standing near the lemonade, the one not quite ready to join, and he crosses the room anyway.

When he asks Lefty to dance, Lefty almost refuses. Fern is not Righty; the music is unfamiliar; the steps are uncertain. They dance badly, at first — and it does not heal him.

What it does is quieter and just as important: it reminds Lefty that joy can still be found in his body. Fern is not a replacement. He is a first step taken without knowing the whole future.

What they carry

New connection, embodied joy, and taking a first step.
