Patch — A striped sock who balances on a wooden spool and sees more, not less.

Patch in The Wholeplace

Balance is not sameness. Balance is to find out what still answers when something goes missing.

Their story

Part of Patch’s lower side has been gone a long time, beyond repair. He moves with a wooden spool, and he does not pretend the missing part isn’t missing.

What surprised Lefty was not the absence but the steadiness around it. Patch’s life did not become smaller; other senses sharpened, and he can feel the mood of a room by how quietly it breathes.

He is funny, observant, and entirely himself. He is not waiting to be fixed, and he is not here to be anyone’s lesson in bravery.

What they carry

Adaptation, balance, and being seen as more than what is absent.
